Sochi Olympics, men’s snowboard cross results: France takes gold; USA wins bronze


Day 11 of the 2014 Winter Olympics kicked off with the men’s snowboard cross. After qualifying runs earlier in the morning, the men finally hit the slopes at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park to determine who would take home the gold medal.

When the riders crossed the finish line in the final run, it was Pierre Vaultier who claimed gold for France.

Nikolay Olyunin won the silver medal for host nation Russia with his second-place finish, while Alex Deibold of the United States brought home the bronze.

With the medals from Olyunin and Deibold, Russia and the United States upped their total medal count in the Sochi Games to 19 a piece as the two nations extended their overall lead.
