Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard said that the Sprite Slam Dunk contest has gotten old.
“People forget that every dunk has been done, basically,” Howard said, via CBS Sports. “There’s not a lot of stuff that you can really do. Even though I’ve got some stuff that I haven’t shown, I’m old now. I don’t know if I can do it. Every dunk has been done. When you get in the dunk contest and somebody might try something, everybody’s like, ‘I saw that four years ago.’ So guys are nervous about getting back in the dunk contest. You’ve got to be very creative.”
Of course the best and most creative dunkers aren’t getting into the contest. And Howard, like LeBron James, show of dunks in practice that fans can only dream about seeing in the competition.
This dunk left Howard’s Rockets teammate Chandler Parsons speechless.
Not to be outdone by LeBron’s recent dunk, Howard throws this one high off the wall then grabs it off the bounce for a effortless windmill dunk.
Not to be out done, James Harden joins in with a through the legs dunk.
