MLB Rumors: Homer Bailey to sign six-year extension with Cincinnati Reds

It appears the Cincinnati Reds and ace Homer Bailey have all but finished work on their rumored contract, this according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

A few days ago, rumors broke that the Reds and Bailey were in talks about a contract extension – an extension that Bailey admitted to just days later.

Now it appears we have completion.

Sources: Bailey contract with #Reds all but done. Will be six years, below $110 million, as @JonHeymanCBS said.

It’s a vast turn from what we heard not even a month ago where the Reds hinted signing Bailey long term would be very difficult, leading Bailey to suggest that his tenure with the Reds could be nearing an end.

But the Reds, fearful they’d lose an elite arm, ponied up the cash and will now have Bailey in Cincinnati for the long haul.

There is currently no set financial figure on the deal, but as Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported on Tuesday, it will not excede $110 million.

All in all, hard to dislike it from the Reds standpoint.
