Nats catcher prepared for Stephen Strasburg with Playstation

The Washington Nationals have a new catcher in Jose Lobaton, and he went an unusual route in preparing to catch for some new pitchers. He learned a lot about Stephen Strasburg by playing with him on Playstation.

From The Washington Post’s Adam Kilgore:

“I knew him from PlayStation,” Lobaton said Wednesday morning. “He was with Tampa. I traded for him.”

“PlayStation, it’s a real game,” Lobaton said. “You can see everything.”

“One thing I know about him, he’s got a good fastball,” Lobaton added. “And then he threw that changeup yesterday. I asked Sandy [Leon]. He said, ‘That’s the best pitch that he’s got.’ I was like: ‘Wow! That fastball and that changeup? And then the curveball?’ ”

It confirms my belief that I’m horrible at video games because they’re so realistic. That has also helped to educate fans and allow them to learn the game as well.
