It appears what little action there was on the Los Angeles Lakers trading Pau Gasol to the Phoenix Suns is dying, this according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.

The veteran scribe goes on to suggest that the Suns have seemingly moved on and are looking at other alternatives.

Hearing that Gasol to Suns, if it ever was serious, dying quickly on the vine. PHX “looking at other stuff” now, per source.

The Lakers don’t have a lot of available options outside of the Suns (the Bobcats being another) where they could absorb an expiring contract and draft pick thanks to Gasol’s albatross of a salary, so the Suns pulling away isn’t good if the Lakers do want to move Gasol.

Of course, with a full day until the NBA’s trade deadline passes, it’s very possible the two sides could come together again if the Suns are unable to find any other deals to their liking, but for now it appears the potential trade is falling apart.

The Lakers power forward has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets due to a ‘groin issue’.
