The New York Knicks have found themselves engaged in multiple trade scenarios today, but their instance to include Raymond Felton in deals is apparently driving a wedge in such trades.
ESPN has learned Knicks are telling teams that have interest in Shumpert: It’ll either cost you a first or you have to take on Felton’s deal
While Shumpert is a fine player, it’s questionable if he’s worth a first round pick (unless it’s extremely late).
As for Felton, his deal isn’t outlandish by any stretch but he’s still due nearly $4 million next season and has a $4 million dollar player option for the 2015-16 season, all of that while being ranked as the worst point guard in the NBA.
Needless to say, if the Knicks are serious about trading Shumpert, it’s likely they’ll need to come down in their demands as teams simply aren’t going to take Felton off their hands unless they can rid themselves of an equally bad contract/player.
