Yesterday afternoon, news broke suggesting that the Sacramento Kings were in trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets, centered around a deal that would send Marcus Thornton back East.

Today, that deal is near completion – this according to Jason Lloyd.

The proposed deal would send Thornton to the Nets in exchange for guard Jason Terry and forward Reggie Evans.

Thornton is due over $8 million dollars next season, the final year of his contract while Terry is due $5.8 next season – the final year of his contract as well. Reggie Evans will make $1.7 million dollars next year, the final year of his deal s well.

There is no suggestion of a potential three-team trade as it’s also been reported the Cleveland Cavaliers would like to trade Jarrett Jack and would be open to taking the contract of Jason Terry in exchange.

The former LSU swingman has struggled with Sacramento this season, but should improve on a more talented Nets team.
