Could Rajon Rondo be a member of the Toronto Raptors at this time on Thursday?
Seems a bit outlandish to even suggest such, but ESPN’s Chad Ford believes the Raptors have the necessary pieces to get a deal with the Boston Celtics done. In addition to that, Ford believes Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri could convince Rondo to remain with the franchise long term.
Raptors could be an interesting team if they want to throw their hats in the ring. They have the assets and I think Masai Ujiri could convince Rondo to stay long term.
Toronto does have some young talent and expiring contracts that would be of interest to the Celtics, but their draft pick isn’t likely to be high enough for the Celtics this season would could put a damper on any potential deal.
There’s no indication that the Raptors have any serious interest in acquiring Rondo at this time, so it seems to be more Ford speculating that they’d be a threat to acquire the point guard assuming they were to make a run.
