Utah and Hayward were unable to agree on an extension this past offseason and there was belief the Jazz could attempt to trade him at the deadline because of this, but that doesn’t appear to be the case as the Jazz look to be more than content in keeping their young forward.
“They’ve made it clear they are going to let the year play out and go from there,” one rival general manager said. “They’re not out there trying to trade him at all.”
Hayward is still just 23-years-old despite having a few years in the league, so he’s still a ways away from his prime. Given that, his price tag would likely be quite high if the Jazz were to make him available.
For now though, it appears Hayward will be finishing out his season with the Jazz where the two will continue to work on a contract come season end.
