After being arrested on the suspicion of marijuana possession Sunday, TCU Horned Frogs wide receiver LaDarius Brown was dismissed from the football team.

The school released a pair of statements about the decision:

Due to a violation of team rules, LaDarius Brown has been removed from our football program. This is very unfortunate. We provide our student-athletes with all the guidelines and principles to be successful on and off the field. At some point, they have to govern themselves. It’s a sad day for everyone.

University students, like everyone else, face various choices each day. TCU tries to assist students by offering them a variety of educational resources to help make wise choices. In general, if a student is alleged to be in violation of the University’s student code of conduct, they can face a hearing and then a judicial process that may result in disciplinary action from the University above and beyond any legal consequences the student might face.

Brown had 36 receptions for 393 yards and two touchdowns last season.
