Two seasons ago the Denver Broncos hired Luke Richesson as their strength and conditioning coach in an effort to halt some of the late season slides that were starting to become all too common. Upon coming to Denver, Richesson starting tailoring team workouts for the high altitude and it seems to be working just fine.

The Broncos have finished the last two seasons strong as a result of the new regiment and Richesson is starting to get some recognition for his efforts. He was recently named the NFL’s 2013 Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year. The award is given by Samson Equipment, a supplier of weight training equipment, and American Football Monthly, an educational resource for coaches.

“This is the 11th year that we’ve recognized the nation’s best strength and conditioning coaches at the professional, college, and high school level,” said Scott Schroeder, Samson’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Strength and conditioning programs have become a top priority at all levels across the country.”

Richesson is among eight coaches honored by Samson Equipment and American Football Monthly. Awards were also given to three college coaches and four regional high school coaches.
