The UFC 170 countdown show aired last night, but if you missed it, we have got you covered. The final segment of the show takes a look at the main event of the UFC 170 card: Ronda Rousey vs Sara McMann.
This bout is monumental for numerous reasons. For the first time in MMA history, two Olympians will battle one another inside the Octagon. Rousey, the Bantamweight champion, was a Bronze medalist in Judo at the 2008 Beijing games. McMann, the undefeated challenger, was a Silver medalist in wrestling at the 2004 Athens games.
Rousey is looking to defend her title for the third time in the UFC. Her last bout was only two months ago, where she defeated Miesha Tate once again by armbar, but this time in the third round. Rousey has looked unstoppable in her MMA career. After a minor scare in her UFC debut to Liz Carmouche, Rousey has otherwise dominated every minute of her Octagon time. She will look for her ninth win, and ninth armbar, on Saturday night.
McMann is 7-0 in her MMA career, including four finishes. In her UFC debut, McMann defeated Sheila Gaff in dominating fashion by TKO’ing the German in the first round. McMann will step into the Octagon after a 10 month layoff against Rousey, which could be a huge disadvantage for her. Regardless, McMann promises to be ready and bring Rousey into deep waters.
