We are still quite some time from the release of the upcoming supernatural thriller Spectral; however, it is never too early to start getting your cast in order. It looks as if this is just what the studio is doing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor James Badge Dale is in talks to join the cast of the film.
Here is a quick look at the synopsis of the film courtesy of IMDb.com.
A sci-fi/thriller story centered on a special-ops team that is dispatched to fight supernatural beings that have taken over New York City.”
James Badge Dale certainly had a busy 2013. Last year, he had roles in three major productions; he starred in Marvel’s Iron Man 3 as Savin, he portrayed Captain Speke in Paramount’s World War Z, and Dan Reid in Walt Disney’s The Lone Ranger.
Spectral has been through its fair share of bumps in the road before getting to this point. According to JoBlo, the film lost its first two directors, Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg to what is being referred to as “creative differences.” The film is now being directed by commercial director Nic Mathieu.
From the synopsis, it seems that they are going for a bit of a modern day Ghostbusters feel with a little more of a military aspect to it.
As the film is still in the very early stages of production, there are not a whole lot of specific details when it comes to the plot line of the film, any further casting decisions, or even a release date at this point; however, as you know, the movie industry is a very fluid thing, and this could change at the drop of a hat.
Spectral is expected to be released in theaters sometime in 2015.
