The Cleveland Cavaliers were said to be in serious negotiations to trade Jarrett Jack to the Sacramento Kings, but were looking to find a third team to take on Jason Thompson‘s contract.

They were unable to do so and according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports, it appears the Cavaliers will likely hang on to Jack through the NBA’s trade deadline.

Less than 3 hours from #NBA trade deadline, sources now say deal involving #Cavs guard Jarrett Jack seems considerably less likely.

Jack hasn’t played very well with the Cavaliers after signing a hefty deal this past offseason which lead to Cleveland’s attempts to move him. Sacramento seemed like a solid destination, but unable to find somebody to take Thompson’s salary and the addition of Spencer Hawes has all but ended such a deal.

It’s possible a last minute deal could resurface, but with the Cavs unable to find a middle ground with Sacramento and the Brooklyn Nets (a team also interested in Jack) moving on, a deal looks to be unlikely.
