Just because the NBA trade deadline is a few hours away, doesn’t mean that teams are going to make trades just for the sake of making them. Even bad teams like the New Orleans Pelicans — a team supposedly active long ago on the trade market — aren’t inclined to make a trade just to land someone, as evidenced in the fact that they’ve reportedly backed off trade offers for Jordan Hill.
According to Adrain Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, the Pelicans have backed off their pursuit of Hill and are now unlikely to trade for him.
New Orleans is backing away on its interest of a Jordan Hill deal with the Lakers, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

This is great news for the Brooklyn Nets, who had competition in landing Hill thanks tot he Pelicans. Hill’s salary is unappealing, and while the Nets are seedy to break the bank to craft a winner, the New Orleans Pelicans are clearly a little more fiscally aware.
