NBA Trade Rumors: Sacramento Kings shopping players from Maloof era

The Sacramento Kings’ new front office has done a good job ridding themselves of the past front offices mistakes (under Maloof ownership), but a few still remain.

And outside of DeMarcus Cousins, they’re all available – this according to Yahoo Sports’ Marc Spears.

Kings still shopping anyone not named DeMarcus Cousins from the Maloofs regime, a source said.

Excluding Cousins, the players remaining on the roster that were signed/traded for/drafted by the Kings during the Maloof tenure are Jason Thompson, Travis Outlaw, Jimmer Fredette and Isaiah Thomas.

Sacramento is said to be wanting nothing more than a second round pick for Fredette and would likely give Outlaw away.

As for Thompson, the Kings were reportedly in talks to trade him to the Cleveland Cavaliers but they wanted a third team to absorb his salary, which forced any deal to fall through when they were unable to find such a taker.

Lastly is point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is the least likely out all the above mentioned players to be moved. That said, he’s the Kings most valuable trade chip outside of Cousins (or Ben McLemore who was drafted under the new reigme) so it’s likely the team just wants to see what his value is.
