Rickie Fowler defeated Jimmy Walker 1-up in the second round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.  Fowler will play Sergio Garcia in the third round tomorrow.

Fowler was one-down on the par-3 16th, but managed to sink a 21-foot birdie putt to even the match.  On 17, Fowler made a 7-footer for par to win the hole, and take a one-up lead.  On 18, Fowler made another 7-footer for par to tie Walker on the hole, and win the match.

Fowler was happy with his performance on the greens:

I told my caddie, Joe, let’s try and birdie the last three, make some good swings.  Obviously, didn’t birdie 17 and 18, but made two really good putts along with the birdie putt on 16…finally got the putter to roll a couple in.  Been swinging great, so [the putting] gives us a little confidence going into tomorrow.

Fowler has missed his last three cuts on the PGA Tour because he has not putted well.  If his putter continues to get hot throughout the tournament, he will be a very difficult player to beat.

The match between Fowler and Sergio should be exciting to watch, who do you think will win?
