Okay, so it appears Charlie Weis won’t serve as the Kansas Jayhawks wide receivers coach after all. Laaaame.

In a press release issued Thursday, Weis announced the hiring of Eric Kiesau. Kiesau spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Huskies, but he was not retained when Chris Petersen, formerly of Boise State, took over as head coach following the departure of Steve Sarkisian for USC.

Weis said Kiesau should be a good addition to the KU staff:

When Coach (John) Reagan came to me with Eric’s name I was intrigued. We’re very pleased to be able to add him to our staff. It is our good fortune that Washington experienced a staff transition at the same time we were looking for a receivers coach. Eric has experienced a great deal of success in exactly the position that we were looking for.

Before joining the Huskies, Kiesau previously served as a receivers coach at Cal and Colorado.
