Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith was asked at the NFL combine about the comments made by Johnny Manziel last week week when he essentially dared the Texans to draft the former Texas A&M Aggies quarterback and 2012 Heisman winner and called him a “colorful” guy.

"“He’s a colorful, confident guy,” Smith said. “You’ve got to appreciate that about him. I don’t have a problem with that.”"

Smith and the Texans ultimately may still pass on Manziel but it won’t be because of the comments, which aren’t too inflammatory to begin with, but they could pass on him because he measured in at under six-feet tall on Friday morning.

New head coach Bill O’Brien won’t get a chance to see Manziel throw at the combine when quarterbacks to their on-field workouts on Sunday however as Manziel will not partake in the drill, electing to throw at a personal pro day on March 27 instead.

I’m curious to hear what Smith will have to say after that day.
