West Virginia Football Recruiting: Kevin Williams commits to Mountaineers

Kevin Williams (Pompano Beach, Fla.Blanche Ely) didn’t wait very long from the time he received an offer from the West Virginia Mountaineers on Thursday as he announced his commitment to the Mountaineers on Friday afternoon.

Williams, a three-star cornerback had just one offer from the Central Michigan Chippewas before receiving the West Virginia offer on Feb. 20 and despite never taking a visit to the Morgantown campus knew West Virginia was the place for him.

Williams said West Virginia was always one of his favorite schools and having been a fan of former West Virginia receiver Tavon Austin, he felt it was a nice fit because of the way they use their defensive backs with five or six used in the rotation.

As a junior Williams had three interceptions and 76 tackles. He is the No. 1,038 recruit overall, No. 92 cornerback and No. 148 player in the state of Florida according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The addition of Williams moves West Virginia up to the No. 7 recruiting class for 2015 which is the No. 1 class for the Big 12 conference.
