Apparently you can take quarterback off the list of positions that the Buffalo Bills are considering with their first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Bills do hope the position is high on the list of the teams drafting ahead of them though.
According to general manager Doug Whaley, the quarterback-needy teams in front of the Bills would boost an already deep talent pool for the team to choose from at No. 9.
“We don’t know exactly which way teams are going to go, but if those quarterbacks go before us that’s a positive in pushing some of that talent down to us at nine,” said Whaley. “We’re going to be ready for whatever scenario comes our way. If the quarterbacks don’t go we’ll be ready with a pick. If the quarterbacks do go we’ll be ready with a pick. Either way there should be someone that we’re excited about at number nine.”
Whaley’s comments suggest that Buffalo is either content with EJ Manuel as their starter, or that they will look into free agency or later rounds in the draft to address the quarterback position. The Bills were one of the few teams that started three different quarterbacks in 2013.
