When Johnny Manziel had his official measurements taken in Indianapolis for the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine, he checked in at just under six-feet. That will raise some concerns about his height and ability to succeed at the next level, but Manziel is not worried about the number.
Manziel was asked whether or not the height should be a concern, and he answered in a way that we would expect Johnny Football to respond.
“No, sir. I play with a lot of heart, and a lot of passion, and I feel like I play like I’m 10-feet tall. The measurement to me is just a number,” Manziel said, via Sports Illustrated.
Manziel has the ability to get outside of the pocket and make plays down the field, so his mobility makes up for what he lacks in height that could hurt him in the pocket at the next level.
The real concern for teams should be whether or not Manziel will be able to handle himself in the spotlight and become the face of a franchise.
One inch won’t change that.
