Josh Smith got Maurice Cheeks fired?

After starting 21-29, the Detroit Pistons decided it was time for a change.

On Sunday February 9th the Pistons fired then head coach Maurice Cheeks.

When Cheeks was fired the team was on a two game win streak, so was his firing sparked by his players?

Reports are suggesting that Josh Smith and Chauncey Billups may have had a hand in this firing.

Coming into the season many questioned the pieces for the Pistons. They brought in Smith, Billups, and Brandon Jennings to place alongside young bigs Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.

The season hasn’t gone as expected, which the team felt was the fault of Cheeks.

Since Cheeks has been fired, the Pistons have gone 2-3 under interim coach John Loyer.
