MLB Rumors: Orioles, Rangers, National League West team in on Ervin Santana

The final few dominoes of free agency are starting to fall with Ubaldo Jimenez and Nelson Cruz signing during in the past few days, both ironically with the Baltimore Orioles.

They may not be done though as they reportedly have interest in pitcher Ervin Santana, this according to Enrique Rojas of ESPN. That said, Baltimore isn’t the only team looking at the free agent right-hander as both the Texas Rangers and an unnamed National League West team are showing interest.

One would presume that it’s not likely to be the San Francisco Giants or Los Angeles Dodgers given their starting rotations are full, so that leaves the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies.

San Diego isn’t likely to spend the money, but the Rockies and D’Backs are always looking for pitching – and the D’Backs have already been rumored to kick the tires on Santana.

Santana can’t side on the sidelines much longer, so he’ll need to pick a team in the coming days to get a good spring in.

I really can’t see the DBacks going after Santana. He simply wouldn’t be a big enough upgrade to what they have for the price.
