The Miami Heat and other potential teams with postseason aspirations will certainly have their pick of the litter when it comes to digging in the free agent bin.
Multiple teams (like the Heat) have expressed a desire to sign a player who will be bought out/released after the completion of the NBA’s trade deadline and once such player who’ll be available is Antawn Jamison.
After acquiring him in a last minute deal from the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, the Atlanta Hawks requested waivers on the veteran forward.
The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on forward Antawn Jamison, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Danny Ferry.
The Hawks had no need for Jamison and simply pulled in a bit of cash and draft rights for helping the Clippers out. As for the Clippers, there were rumors they were nearing a trade with the New York Knicks (a deal that never manifested) and were in need of clearing a roster spot. Removing Jamison from the roster also saved Los Angeles a bit of money for the remainder of the season.
Expect Jamison to latch on with a contender once he clears waivers.
