Before the Orlando Magic and power forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis even finalized an agreement on a buyout, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, reported the Los Angeles Clippers were a “strong frontrunner” to acquire Davis once he was bought out (The Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs are also interested).

Clippers’ head coach Doc Rivers was asked about buyout candidates, including Davis, and the Clippers’ interest in him.

“You always do,” Rivers told Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times. “I’m not going to say any names, but yeah. There’s more than one team that wants all these guys — at least a lot of the guys. So, you have to talk to them.”

Rivers coached Davis while both were with the Boston Celtics.

Rivers’ knows he will have to fight off two of his other former players, Brooklyn Nets’ swingman Paul Pierce and power forward Kevin Garnett in recruiting Davis, but he believes the Clippers’ record will do the talking.

“We want to win, too,” Rivers said. “That’s it. Other than that, I’m not a beauty queen. They’re not going to come and play for me for my looks. The opportunity of winning is what anyone should want and we’re one of a lot of teams that has that opportunity.”
