NBA Rumors: New York Knicks thought they completed trade with Clippers

On Thursday, the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers engaged themselves on a trade that would have sent Darren Collison to the Big Apple in exchange for Iman Shumpert.

Apparently, the Knicks felt the trade was all but done – however – the Clippers pulled out at the final moment, this according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard.

Sources: Knicks thought they had a Shump/Collison deal done yesterday. Clips pulled out just b4 deadline.

While we might be inclined to blame this blunder on the Knicks because, why not, it seems to have some substance.

Reports from multiple sources had suggested the trade was near and the Clippers, in need of a roster spot, ended up trading Antwan Jamison to the Atlanta Hawks moments before the deadline closed.

Of course, Shumpert was coming off an injury that he suffered the night before and there were questions about his availability moving forward, so the Clippers may have balked due to that.

Regardless, it seems as if the Knicks were under the impression the trade was close to completion before the rug was pulled out in the final moments.
