In above that is hardly surprising to Lions fans, the team has announced that they plan on retaining running back Joique Bell through the 2014 season, even if someone makes a run at him this offseason. The Lions were expected to tender their backup stud and general manager Martin Mayhew has stated that no one will wrestle Bell away from them in 2014.

Per MLive.com:

"“He’s going to be here,” Mayhew said Friday during the the NFL combine in Indianapolis. “We met with his agent a couple of nights ago and had a good discussion. There is a possibility we might work on a long-term deal with him, but either way, he’s going to be with us.”"

Detroit has a powerful tandem in Reggie Bush and Joique Bell, and fans are hoping that Bell is given a long-term deal to keep him in Detroit. While that seems to be a goal, the team isn’t in a rush to give him a big contract, although something like that seems to neon the horizon, and the Lions may be wise to lock up Bell before he has another huge season and raises his price out of their range.
