The Texas A&M Aggies held their Junior Day on Saturday just like a few other high-profile programs, including the two participants in the BCS National Title Game, the Auburn Tigers and the Florida State Seminoles.
The Aggies have become a recruiting juggernaut under head coach Kevin Sumlin and you can make a big impression on recruits during Junior day.
Their reputation only grew on Saturday when the Aggies landed a commitment from 3-star athlete Deshawn Capers-Smith.
The 5’10, 170-pounder plays quarterback, projects as a cornerback and is listed as an athlete. He attends Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Brian Perroni of 24/7 Sports has the scoop.
As of 4:30 p.m., the number of commitments has increased by one and the Aggies have taken over the top spot again in the team rankings.
New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton cornerback Deshawn Capers-Smith made the drive to College Station with several teammates and did not wait long to commit after meeting with head coach Kevin Sumlin
Capers-Smith is considered the 51st ranked athlete prospect, 28th best overall prospect in the state of Louisiana and 429th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
He chose the Aggies over offers from the Boise State Broncos and Missouri Tigers, among others.
