4-Star DT Cedric Wood commits to Florida State Seminoles

It was a big weekend for the defending national champions.

The Florida State Seminoles held their Junior Day on Saturday and landed commitments from a pair of 3-stars in the class of 2015 in linebacker Brian Bell and offensive guard Cole Minshew.

They also landed a commitment from a standout in the class of 2016 when defensive tackle Cedric Wood gave his pledge to the Seminoles.

“That is where I want to be,” Wood told Wayne McGahee of Nole Digest. “I love Florida State. I really like that the FSU coaches don’t sugarcoat anything.”

Wood attends Amos P. Gody B. High School in Tallahassee, Florida, the same school a class of 2014 Florida State signee, 4-star linebacker Jacob Pugh, attends.

Wood, however, told McGahee that did not make any difference.

“It really didn’t affect me,” Wood said. “That was just icing on the cake.”

Wood has great size at 6’2 and 265 pounds despite being just a sophomore in high school.

He is the first commit for the Seminoles in the class of 2016.
