Andrei Kirilenko, Mason Plumlee to start for Nets against Lakers

With the Brooklyn Nets without starters Kevin Garnett and Shaun Livingston against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Nets will replace them with Andrei Kirilenko and rookie Mason Plumlee.

The Nets are on the second night of a road back-to-back, which is why Garnett (rest) will be out.

Livinston will miss the game with an injured tailbone that he suffered in the loss to the Golden State Warriors Saturday night.

Kirilenko, 33, will be making his first start of the season.

Even with center Brook Lopez out for the season, this will only be Plumlee’s second start of the season.

In his first season with the Nets, Kirilenko has played in just 24 games due to an assortment of injuries. He’s averaged 5.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

Plumlee has averaged 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes of action during his rookie campaign.

Newly acquire guard Marcus Thornton will also be out with a case of food poisoning.

Jason Collins is expected to make his Nets debut after signing a 10-day contract today.
