The NFL Scouting Combine is going on in Indianapolis this weekend and the quarterbacks are being trotted out to dance for the scouts and coaches in attendance. While not everyone is in the market for a top quarterback, many are here to see what the future competition will be, as well as getting some scouting done.
In this era of the mobile quarterback, the 40-yard dash times have become more important than ever, especially to guys coming into the draft as supposedly speedy quarterbacks. One such guy was Johnny Manziel and his unofficial 4-time of 4.56 is being discussed already.
Manziel’s time is being compared to that of Colin Kaepernick, a guy many have begun to compare the Texas A&M gunslinger to. NFL.com threw together a really cool video that has Manziel and Kaepernick racing by overlapping footage of their individual 40-yard dashes.

It’s sort of like the option to race yourself in video games and you’re just racing a ghost version of your previous race. Kaepernick’s time for the combine was also faster than 4.63, which is why he appears to be going faster than Manziel despite the reported times in the NFL tweet. Manziel’s official time — the much slower and lesser reported time — was 4.68.
