The New England Patriots exclusive window to negotiate with their own free agents will be coming to a close in the next few weeks, which doesn’t exactly bode well for Julian Edelman.

While New England is said to have talked with players like Aqib Talib in recent days, they have not held any contractual discussions with Edelman.

"While they had preliminary contact with the agent of free agent cornerback Aqib Talib at the combine, sources say they haven’t approached impending free agents Julian Edelman and Ryan Wendell about contracts."

That said, just because there haven’t been any discussions as of yet doesn’t mean the two sides won’t get together in the near future.

The Patriots are said to be interested in bringing Edelman back (understandably) but know they’ll have to compete to retain his services, something they admitted a few weeks back.

If he does hit free agency, it’s expected the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos would be two teams with interest in signing the veteran wide receiver.
