Defensive end Michael Bennett is set to become a free agent in March, where he will be one of the top available players on the open market. Keeping Bennett will be key for the Seattle Seahawks defense and they are reportedly in the process of making sure he will return to the team.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, the Seahawks will be releasing defensive lineman Red Bryant in hopes of clearing up the cap space necessary to re-sign Bennett.

If the Seahawks can pull off the move, then it is a huge move for the team and helps set them up nicely on their quest to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Whether or not Bennett will accept the offer Seattle can muster up remains to be seen, but the Seahawks are certainly taking a step in the right direction.
