Jason Day lost to Matt Kuchar last year in the semifinals of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, but he prevailed this morning against Rickie Fowler to advance to the finals. Nobody can question Day’s preparation and will to win:
That’s why we work so hard. Especially those last six months with the World Cup win last year, and the motivation going into this year, I felt really good. The start of the season, that’s all I’m trying to do is win.
I felt like I had a really good chance at maybe having a shot at winning this week, and I’m definitely in the final now and I’m really looking forward to it.
Jason Day will play Victor Dubuisson in the finals this afternoon.
Despite losing to Jason Day, Rickie Fowler is happy with the swing changes he has made with swing instructor Butch Harmon. If he starts putting well, he could have a career year:
I’ve been swinging really well. I’ve been telling people tee to green I’ve been awesome. The things with Butch that we’ve been working on have been paying off. Just haven’t really been making any putts and getting the balls up and down when we need to.
Rickie Fowler will play Ernie Els in the consolation match this afternoon.
