Not only did the Penn State Nittany Lions land a commitment from 3-star inside linebacker Jake Cooper on Monday, but 3-star defensive end Ryan Buchholz also committed to Penn State Monday.
Buchholz took an unofficial visit to Happy Valley on Monday and informed head coach James Franklin and his staff of his choice.
“It’s just everything,” Buchholz told Lions247 before the visit via Sean Fitz. “How close it it, the coaching staff. I even told Coach Franklin last time that I wasn’t as comfortable with the last staff, but with his staff I feel more comfortable and a lot better with them.
“It’s just a combination of everything, basically.”
The 6’6, 230-pound Buchholz attends Great Valley High School in Malvem, Pennsylvania.
Buchholz is ranked as the 26th best strong side defensive end prospect, the 15th best overall prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the 522nd best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Buchholz chose Penn State over offers from the Boston College Eagles, Pittsburgh Panthers, Purdue Boilermakers and West Virginia Mountaineers, among others.
