The Penn State Nittany Lions refer to their school as “Linebacker U,” because of the long, proud tradition they have for producing outstanding linebackers.
Penn State thinks they may have just found their next great linebacker.
On Monday, 3-star linebacker Jake Cooper gave his pledge to Penn State (Penn State also landed a commitment from 3-star defensive Ryan Buchholz).
“First and foremost, it’s the student body up there. It’s incredible. You just get all the love from everybody,” Cooper told Sean Fitz of 24/7 Sports. “It’s a great academic school. Some kids just say that because it goes along with making a decision, but when you sit down and look at where Penn State ranks with the rest of the schools, you can really see that Penn State is a great school.
“It feels like home. Going up there, I’ve been up four of five times, it just gets better and it really does feel like home.”
The 6’2, 220-pounder attends Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania.
He is ranked as the 27th best inside linebacker prospect, the 19th best overall prospect in Pennsylvania and the 714th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
