The NFL on CBS made a surprising move earlier this month to fire Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe from their NFL Today broadcast team, but the void didn’t exist long. Not he same day that the network relieved Marino and Sharpe, they filled one half of the hole with Tony Gonzalez and have now found another former player to fill in.
According to a statement released by CBS, the network has hired Scott to become part of the NFL Today pregame team on Sunday mornings this season.
“Bart joining The NFL Today is a natural progression from his outstanding work during his first season on TOPS,” CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said in a statement. “Bart brings a dynamic personality and unique perspective as a recently retired player providing strong opinions on all the hot-button issues on a weekly basis. We are confident he will continue to bring that perspective and those opinions to The NFL Today.”
Scott seemed the be trying out for a spot when he subbed in a few times last year and his audition process seemed to have gone well. Scott joining CBS means that the absence of Marino and Sharpe has been filled and their time with CBS is but a distant memory now.
