With the defensive linemen taking the spotlight on Monday at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine, aside from Jadeveon Clowney, all eyes are on Missouri Tigers defensive end, Michael Sam.

While some are going to focus on the obvious story of Sam’s journey to becoming the first openly gay player in the National Football League, that makes most forget that there were still a lot of questions surrounding how he translates to the next level and he has the first-hand opportunity to start proving those doubters wrong with his workouts.

In the 40-yard dash, the 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year didn’t really disappoint as he clocked in unofficially in his first attempt at the 40-yard dash at 4.79 seconds.

It’s not as eye-popping as Clowney’s 4.53 time, but still not a bad time for a defensive end.
