One of the top defensive linemen expected to work out on Monday at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis was Auburn’s Dee Ford. However, news broke on Monday morning just before workouts were set to begin in Indianapolis that Ford will not be taking the field for individual drills.

According to Scott Hanson of the NFL Network, medical issues will keep Ford off the field.

There is no exact word on what medical issue is forcing Ford to miss Monday’s workouts, but more information will be passed along at 9 a.m. ET on the NFL Network.

After a great showing at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, Ford was beginning to shoot up draft boards and everyone was hoping to watch that climb continue on Monday.

Ford is the man who called out South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney over the weekend and said that he was the better player, but he will have to wait to prove his statements were true.

Stephon Tuitt of Notre Dame is also unable to participate in Monday’s workouts, so the door is wide open for players like Missouri’s Kony Ealy to seize the opportunity and jump up draft boards with a strong performance.
