Orioles’ Brian Matusz to miss time with wart on finger

This Spring Training, we’ve seen ingrown hairs, ingrown toenails, injuries because of dogs, and now a wart on a finger.

MASN’s Roch Kubatko reports that left-handed pitcher Brian Matusz will fly back to Philadelphia after an intrasquad game tomorrow to have a wart removed from his throwing hand. He is only expected to miss a small handful of days.

Matusz, 27, spent four years as a starter for Baltimore before being relegated to setup duties in the bullpen for 2013. In 65 games last season, he went 2-1 with a 3.53 ERA with 50 strikeouts and a 3.13 K/BB ratio, pitching 51 innings.

Kubatko also notes that Matusz had a wart removed from the same finger three years ago.
