Orioles' Quintin Berry suffers back injury

Both Britt Ghiroli from MLB.com and Roch Kubatko of MASN are reporting that Baltimore outfielder Quintin Berry is being looked at by trainers right now, potentially due to a back injury.

Berry, who was released by the Red Sox and granted free agency in November, signed with the Orioles in January to be in the mix to be a starting corner outfielder for the O’s. Berry’s first full year in the Major Leagues came with Detroit in 2012. In 94 games, Berry hit .258/.330/.354 at the top of the lineup before being designated for assignment in June of last season, taken by the Royals, and traded to Boston in the span of a month and a half.

The Orioles signed outfielder Nelson Cruz over the weekend, who has more experience in right field. The competition for the remaining corner and fourth outfielder spots come down to Berry, Nick Markakis, David Lough, Steve Pearce, Delmon Young, Xavier Paul, and prospect Henry Urrutia.
