Texas Rangers and Ron Washington agreed to a contract extension through 2015

The Texas Rangers and manager Ron Washington have agreed to a contract extension through the 2015 season. No further terms of the contract were disclosed.

“Ron Washington leads our club with a vast knowledge and passion for the game,” said Rangers President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jon Daniels, via a statement released by the team. “Under Wash’s guidance and tutelage, the Rangers have enjoyed their greatest successes in franchise history. I look forward to working with him to build on that success in 2014 and beyond.”

Washington has led the Rangers to two AL Championships and World Series appearances and is headed into his eighth season as the team’s manager. He is clearly the Rangers most successful manager in the club’s history with an all-time leading 611 regular season wins. This season Washington will pass Bobby Valentine for most games managed in a Rangers’ uniform.
