Warren Sapp on Jadeveon Clowney: ‘He should be ashamed of his tape’

Former South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was the talk of the NFL Combine today after running an official 4.53 in the 40, which was faster than a number of running backs and receivers who ran the drill yesterday.

However, the question still remains about Clowney’s work ethic which has been in question after a disappointing junior season, and Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp had some unflattering remarks about what he saw on film during the 2013 season from Clowney and said on the NFL Network the athletically-gifted defender should be “ahsamed.”

“I’m ashamed to look at it” Sapp said referring to Clowney’s game tape. “He ought to be ashamed it’s even out there” because of inconsistent play. Sapp said the tape made him question whether Clowney truly “wanted to play this game.” Sapp said there was “no aggressiveness, no hunt” from Clowney in a lot of the tape he had seen.”

NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock said last week Clowney had all the physical traits to be the best player in this draft but his concerns over his mental makeup would have him taking Khalil Mack ahead of him in the draft.

Will the Houston Texans agree with Sapp and Mayock, or will they be in awe of his physical abilities that were unrivaled at the 2014 NFL Combine?
