Borussia Dortmund took a early 2-0 lead which held until the end of the first half. Then early in the second half Zenit St Petersburg’s Oleg Shatov scored with a left footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner.
That narrowed the lead from 2-0 to 2-1. Important in this two leg series based on aggregate score. It didn’t last long, Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski responded just minutes later with a goal of his own. It featured a lot of quality ball movement to get Lewandowski to score to increase the lead to 3-1.
Then Zenit got a penalty, albeit controversial and a trip to the spot. It looked like the Zenit player threw himself into the defender.
Which Hulk took and buried in the back of the net to pull Zenit back within one, 3-2.
For the second time, Lewandowski put Dortmund back ahead by two just minutes after.
