Former Texas A&M Aggies quarterback and the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was one of the big stars at the 2014 NFL Combine which wrapped up from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Tuesday and could be headed to the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars or Cleveland Browns in the top four picks.
If the Browns are on the clock with their first round pick and Manziel is on the board, then you can count on Pro Bowl cornerback, and one of the cornerstones of the Browns, Joe Haden being fully on board with the selection of Manziel.
“I would have no problem with it,” Haden said of Manziel potentially landing with the Browns. “… I love the way he plays, his passion. You need that, especially with the young team we have with the Browns. He would bring that fire to us, just the excitement. With Johnny Football, you never know what he’s going to do on any play. I like that about him.”
Brian Hoyer would be in line to be the Browns starter if they don’t make any additions to the position either through the draft or via free agency, but the drafting of Manziel would go a long way toward bringing that fire as Haden says to the franchise that has been in a perpetual rebuild.
