Georges St-Pierre: 'I am very happy where I am right now'

The MMA world is still reeling from Georges St-Pierre’s abrupt leave of absence from the UFC. Speculation as to why he left has run rampant the last few months. GSP himself has discussed multiple reasons for leaving citing his own personal issues, issues with how the UFC is run, issues with drug testing in the sport, and numerous other reasonings.

A lot of the headlines regarding GSP as of late have been somewhat negative. Today, Fansided brings you a video interview of the former Welterweight champion explaining how he is in a happy place right now. The video is courtesy of Sports Net Canada who spoke with Georges last night at a Bacardi Canada party. GSP and Bacardi teamed up last November when he became the official Social Responsibility Ambassador for Bacardi Canada.

In the interview GSP also mentions that he has not spoken with Dana White, but he has spoken to the ‘big boss’ Lorenzo Fertitta. GSP claims that Dana is the promoter, and Lorenzo is the boss. GSP also claims that Dana White is the best promoter of all time.

Another interesting tidbit in the interview is GSP’s opinion that Rory MacDonald deserves a Welterweight title shot. Coming off his win this past weekend at UFC 170, Rory stated yesterday that he would like a title shot as well. We will see if the UFC gives him the winner of the UFC 171 Welterweight title bout between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.
