The Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche are set to resume their regular NHL schedules now that the 2014 Winter Games are over. This is an important game for both squads, and they each have a little something to prove by getting off on the right foot as we head into the home stretch.
Colorado will be looking to stay the course. They’ve been one of the league’s darlings this season, and have seemingly gone from one of the worst trams in the NHL to playoff contender overnight. That isn’t the case, obviously. First-year coach Patrick Roy has worked magic with the young Colorado team, and has them sitting squarely in a playoff spot with a small stretch of games to go.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, struggled mightily prior to the Olympic break. They have gone 2-8-0 in their last 10, and a major reason has been a severe lack of scoring. After watching Drew Doughty light it up in Sochi, maybe they’ll be let off the defensive chain a little.
It’ll be interesting to see how Jonathan Quick performs after leading the USA to a disappointing finish in the Olympics. The blame doesn’t fall on his shoulders only, but he was on the receiving end of a butt kicking by the Finns. Will he be able to bounce back in time to help the Kings charge up the Pacific Division standings?
Tune in to find out. Here’s how.
