United close in on two Serie A targets.

Manchester United boss David Moyes is set to undergo a raid on two Serie A giants to land Juventus full-back Mauricio Isla and Inter Milan’s attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez.

Moyes is gearing up for a busy summer as he looks to overhaul his squad following a difficult first season in charge that sees the club’s chances of qualification for next year’s Champions League campaign in serious doubt.

And the former Everton man has lined up several targets early on to avoid another summer like the last where he failed to bring in a number of his top targets.

United have been linked with Inter’s Alvarez before, but a concrete move for the 25-year-old failed to materialise during the January transfer window, but a serious offer is said to be in place to test the Italian club’s resolve.

Moyes has been disappointed by the standard of several of his midfield stars this term, with the likes of Shinji Kagawa, Ashley Young, Nani, Anderson and Luis Valencia all coming in for criticism following poor displays.

And the Argentine international is believed to be one of the replacements for Japan flop Kagawa, who is thought to be heading back to Germany over the coming summer.

And United are also looking into bringing in Chilean international right-back Mauricio Isla of Juventus with the intention of him staking a claim for a regular starting spot.

United’s current regular in that position is Rafael, who has shown some bright sparks this term, but has been slightly too inconsistent for the manager’s liking, and he has bigger ideas for Phil Jones and Chris Smalling to be used in their more recognized positions in the middle.

Isla joined the Serie A champions back in 2012 from Udinese, where he established himself as one of the best full-back’s in the division, but has so far failed to make a regular spot his own in Turin.

He has made ten appearances for Juve this season and feels that he is being wasted by not playing and would therefore be open to making a move elsewhere during the summer.

It is believed that the pair would cost the club a combined fee somewhere in the region of £22m, which will only take up a small part of their £120m transfer war chest that has been given to the manager to strengthen his squad.
