On the heels of a report suggesting Pau Gasol wants to leave the Los Angeles Lakers and sign with the Memphis Grizzlies this offseason, the veteran power forward ripped his teammates and head coach Mike D’Antoni after their most recent loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The shorthanded Lakers were within three points at the half, but struggles in the third and fourth quarter lead to a relatively easy blowout victory for the Pacers which didn’t sit well with the Lakers big man.
“That’s why you have to be disciplined and implement discipline, that’s how you kind of make that better or make that not a factor,” Gasol said when asked about the Lakers’ collection of players, himself included, on expiring deals.”I don’t think there’s a lot of discipline right now.”
Gasol also went on to suggest the ‘small’ lineup used by D’Antoni wasn’t effective, questioning his coaching skills.
It’s just one of a few outbursts we’ve seen from a frustrated Gasol this season, who is tired of the Lakers struggles (and likely the constant trade rumors that have haunted him the past few years).
